#4 REGULAR: The Revolution!

List at least three documents from this page with which you are already familiar.

2. CLICK HERE to select a record type of your choice (click on a photo of a person). Select any document. Pull up the original and try to transcribe the first sentence. Write the name of your document, the date, and the first sentence.

3. CLICK HERE . Pick a song and write the title. Explain its message. How does it relate to the Revolution?

4. CLICK HERE to learn about Patrick Henry's famous speech. What is the phrase commonly known from this speech? What was the occasion for his speech? What was Henry trying to convince his audience to do?

5. CLICK HERE to learn about winter at Valley Forge. What happened there? What were the living conditions like?

6. CLICK HERE to learn about The Crisis by Thomas Paine. What was The Crisis? What was its purpose? What did George Washington order to be done with it?

7. CLICK HERE to read about the risk that the signers of the Declaration of Independence took. What specifically could have happened to them for signing? What were their main complaints found in the Declaration?

8. CLICK HERE to read about Benjamin Franklin. Scroll down to the section at the bottom of the page titled "The Constitution". What did Franklin do to try to persuade delegates to sign the Constitution? (look in the third paragraph of this section). Skim the rest of the page and write down three other important things that Franklin accomplished.

HONORS Blog Assignment #1 2018-19: Puritans and Native Americans

DIRECTIONS:
Title a piece of lined paper "Artwork Analysis-Native American/Puritan Relationships"

  • Go to google.com and type Puritans and Native Americans into the search box. 
  • Click on the word images underneath the search box. You will see hundreds of images. Do NOT use the image from the English 3 blog. 
  • Look through several images and choose the image that YOU think best portrays the relationship between Native Americans and Puritans. 
  • Click on the image you chose and select visit page. 
  • Print your image and attach it to your lined paper for this assignment. 
  • Answer the questions below on lined paper. 
1. Identify: What is the source (website title and address) of your image? (Also include the name of the artist if it is available.)
2. Explain: Why did you choose this image as the best portrayal of the relationship between Native Americans and Puritans? Point out at least three details from the image that stand out to you.
3. Background: Where did you get your prior knowledge about the Native American/Puritan relationship? (movies, books, teachers, online, etc.)
